１．語彙

語彙	読み方	意味	例文（英訳併記）
嗜好	しこう	Preference / Taste	参加者の食の嗜好を事前に把握し、店選びに役立てます。 (We will grasp the food preferences of the participants in advance to help in choosing the restaurant.)
配慮	はいりょ	Consideration / Care	ベジタリアンの方への配慮として、肉や魚を使わないメニューを注文します。 (As a consideration for vegetarians, we will order a menu that does not use meat or fish.)
趣向	しゅこう	Plan / Idea / Flavor	今回の会食は、落ち着いて話ができるよう和風の趣向を凝らしました。 (For this dinner, we put a lot of thought into a Japanese-style plan so that we could talk calmly.)

２．文法

1. ～もさることながら (Not only A, but also B / A is of course true, but B is also…)

意味: Ａももちろんそうだが、Ｂはさらに強調したい。
例文: システムの機能性もさることながら、ユーザーへの配慮も欠かせません。(The functionality of the system is important, of course, but consideration for the users is also indispensable.)

2. ～にひきかえ (In contrast to / Unlike)

意味: 前の内容と後の内容が大きく反対であることを強調する。
例文: 以前の複雑な画面にひきかえ、新システムのUIは非常に直感的です。(In contrast to the previous complex screens, the UI of the new system is very intuitive.)

3. ～といったふうに (In such a way as / Like)

意味: 例を挙げて、やり方や様子を説明する。
例文: 「出汁に魚を使わない」「肉を野菜に変える」といったふうに、具体的にリクエストします。(I will make specific requests, such as “don’t use fish in the broth” or “change meat to vegetables.”)

4. ～に限ったことではない (Not limited to / Not just…)

意味: それだけでなく、他にも当てはまる。
例文: 食事の配慮が必要なのは海外のエンジニアに限ったことではなく、日本でも多様化が進んでいます。(The need for dietary considerations is not limited to overseas engineers; diversification is also progressing in Japan.)

5. ～なしには (Without… cannot / Unless…)

意味: もし～がなければ、～できない（強い否定を伴う）。
例文: 開発チームとの緊密な連携なしには、このプロジェクトの成功はあり得ません。(Without close cooperation with the development team, the success of this project is impossible.)

３．会話パターン

パターン１：接待の店選びについての相談

同僚：Aravindhさん、来週のパートナー企業との会食ですが、和食のお店でよろしいでしょうか。

Colleague: Aravindh-san, regarding next week’s dinner with our partner company, would a Japanese restaurant be okay?

Aravindh：はい。ただ、私はベジタリアンなので、肉や魚を使わないメニューが可能か確認が必要ですね。

Aravindh: Yes. However, since I am a vegetarian, we need to check if a menu without meat or fish is possible.

同僚：そうでしたね。お店の雰囲気もさることながら、食事の配慮が最優先です。

Colleague: That’s right. The atmosphere of the restaurant is important, but dietary considerations are the top priority.

Aravindh：ありがとうございます。精進料理のお店といったふうに、具体的な趣向を提案してもいいですか。

Aravindh: Thank you. May I suggest a specific theme, such as a Buddhist vegetarian (Shojin Ryori) restaurant?

同僚：いいですね。以前の居酒屋にひきかえ、落ち着いてシステム要件の折衝もできそうです。

Colleague: That sounds good. In contrast to the previous izakaya, it seems we’ll be able to negotiate the system requirements calmly.

パターン２：会食の席での会話

取引先：Aravindhさんは、日本での食事で困ることはありませんか。

Client: Aravindh-san, do you have any trouble with food in Japan?

Aravindh：最近はベジタリアン対応の店が増えたので、以前ほどではありません。

Aravindh: Recently, the number of vegetarian-friendly restaurants has increased, so it’s not as much of a problem as before.

取引先：それは良かったです。今日の料理は、お口に合いますか。

Client: That’s good to hear. Does today’s food suit your palate?

Aravindh：はい、非常に美味しいです。周囲の配慮なしには、こうして楽しく食事をすることはできません。

Aravindh: Yes, it is very delicious. Without the consideration of those around me, I wouldn’t be able to enjoy a meal like this.

取引先：食の多様性への対応は、IT業界に限ったことではないですからね。今後も大切にしたいです。

Client: After all, responding to food diversity is not limited to the IT industry. We want to continue to value this in the future.

４．ビジネスメール

「メインを豆腐料理に変える」といったふうに、柔軟に趣向を凝らしていただければ幸いです。
