If you learn from me, you will be able to use Japanese with ease.
The lessons I offer have three features that set them apart from my competitors:
- Easy to understand
- Logical and scientific
- Humorous
Shishoh Sensei can teach two different types of Japanese grammar. One is grammar created by a private company for foreigners (this is what foreigners usually learn). The other is the formal grammar that Japanese people learn at school.
The former allows you to speak quickly, but the downside is that it’s mainly memorization and isn’t logical.
The latter takes time to master, but it has rules that can be applied and allows you to speak on your own.
Shishoh Sensei is a rare teacher who can teach foreigners while weaving in the formal grammar that Japanese people learn at school.
Teacher Shishoh is risking his life in his experiments.
Why are his classes so interesting, easy to understand, and logical?
It’s because his life has been full of things that most people would hesitate to do.
Read his biography below and you’ll understand.
Profile
Shishoh was born in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, and spent his early childhood in Saitama Prefecture. From his university years at Waseda University onward, he has resided in Tokyo.
Graduating from the Faculty of Education at Waseda University, he embarked on a diverse and unconventional career path.
He first worked as a real estate salesman before moving to Singapore, where he taught Japanese to Japanese children at a cram school.
Upon returning to Japan, he dedicated himself to preparing for the bar exam.
At the age of 26, he ventured into entrepreneurship, founding a web development company.
Seizing the opportunities presented by the IT bubble of 2000, he established a second IT company, only to face failure.
In the aftermath, he endured a period of hardship, juggling multiple jobs to survive: a part-time worker at McDonald‘s during the day, a menial assistant at Goldman Sachs Tokyo in the early morning, and a chauffeur for cabaret club hostesses in Shinjuku’s Kabukicho district at night.
Moved by his struggles, a friend introduced him to an IT consultancy role, assisting Mitsubishi UFJ Bank in implementing an anti-money laundering system. Stability seemed within reach, but the 2008 Lehman Shock left him unemployed once again.
Another IT consulting opportunity followed, but soon after, the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011 devastated the economy, leading to yet another loss of employment.
Realizing that these trials were a divine revelation urging him to forge his own path, Shishoh embarked on his third entrepreneurial endeavor.
Today, he stands as a certified Japanese language instructor officially recognized by the Japanese government, teaching under the banner of his own company.
Experience
Shishoh began his journey as a Japanese language educator in Singapore, where he taught Japanese elementary and junior high school students in preparation for their entrance examinations.
Recognizing the need for formal credentials, he pursued and obtained a Japanese teaching qualification, officially certified by the Japanese government.
Following his certification, he honed his expertise at ISI School, Japan’s largest educational institution, and later at Coach Gakuen, a specialized academy dedicated to preparing Chinese students for university entrance in Japan.
His distinguished career extended to the online domain, where he provided one-on-one instruction to over 60 students from around the world.
His online students came from diverse professional backgrounds, including interpreters, MBA candidates, medical school applicants, internationally active consultants, and professionals seeking career opportunities in Japan.
Through his comprehensive and personalized teaching approach, he has guided countless learners toward their academic and professional aspirations.
Differences from other teachers
He is a Japanese language instructor. Many past instructors of Japanese lacked knowledge of the officially recognized grammar of Japan and instead taught a simplified version developed by private enterprises.
While this “commercial grammar” allowed learners to engage in basic conversations quickly, it relied heavily on rote memorization and lacked adaptability, leading students to reach an impasse before long.
He firmly declares that this approach is fundamentally flawed. My method is distinct—He analyzes sentence structures, deconstruct grammatical components, and elucidate the inherent meaning within each part of speech.
This enables his students to experience true comprehension, often leading to that moment of realization: “Ah, so that’s how it works!”
What sets him apart from other instructors is his logical explanations combined with a touch of humor—an approach rarely found elsewhere in Japanese language education.
