① ～を通じて（～をつうじて）

• 意味： ～を媒介・手段にして、または～という期間全体で。
• Meaning: Through; via (by means of); throughout (the whole period).

• English: Through the environmental protection campaign, citizens’ environmental awareness improved.

② ～に沿って（～にそって）

• 意味： ～という基準、方針、道すじから外れないように（物事を行う）。
• Meaning: Along with; in accordance with; in line with (an established rule, guideline, or path).
• 例文： 政府が定めたガイドラインに沿って、新しい環境プロジェクトを推進する。
• English: In accordance with the guidelines established by the government, we will promote the new environmental project.

③ ～のみならず

• 意味： ～だけではなく、もっと広い範囲のものすべてに当てはまる（「～だけでなく」より硬い表現）。
• Meaning: Not only… but also (formal equivalent of “〜だけでなく”).
• 例文： 温室効果ガスの削減は、日本のみならず、世界全体の課題である。

④ ～上（～じょう）

• 意味： ～という観点、関係、立場から判断すると。
• Meaning: In terms of; from the standpoint of; from the perspective of.

⑤ ～つつ

• 意味： 二つの動作を同時に行う（「～ながら」より硬い表現）、または「～けれども」（逆接）。
• Meaning: While doing (formal equivalent of “〜ながら”); although / despite (expressing contrast or contradiction).
• 例文： 企業の利益を追求しつつ、環境負荷を最小限に抑える方法を模索している。

The Current State and Challenges of ESG Investment in Japan

近年、日本の経済界において「サステナビリティ経営」という言葉が急速に普及している。

In recent years, the term “sustainability management” has been rapidly spreading in Japan’s economic circles.

企業は単に利益を追求するのみならず、環境（E）、社会（S）、ガバナンス（G）への配慮が強く求められるようになった。

Companies are now strongly required to show consideration for Environment (E), Social (S), and Governance (G), not just pursue profits.

この変化を推進する大きな要因は、ESG投資の拡大である。

A major factor driving this change is the expansion of ESG investment.

投資家は、財務情報に沿って企業を評価するだけでなく、非財務情報である環境問題への取り組みにも注目している。

Investors do not only evaluate companies in accordance with financial information, but also pay attention to environmental initiatives, which are non-financial information.

特に、気候変動対策を経営上の重要課題と捉え、温室効果ガスの削減目標を自ら開示する日本企業が増えている。

In particular, an increasing number of Japanese companies view climate change countermeasures as a key management issue and voluntarily disclose their greenhouse gas reduction targets.

このような情報開示を通じて、自社の社会的責任を果たしようとする姿勢が、長期的な信頼獲得につながる。
